Guest Old Canny Street Kid
Bob Brown was the first "proper" secretary-manager of the Owls, arriving in 1920 and staying until 1933. The peak of his achievement was leading Wednesday to successive League Championships in 1928-29 and 1929-30 --this after the club was so nearly relegated in 1928! Here is a Heap caricature of Brown. Judith
Would love to kinow what was "improper" about his predecessor who was my great uncle! More seriously, do you happen to have a cartoon of the above - Arthur Joshua Dickinson? Judith in France
RichardB
I'd like a date order listing of all Managers, proper or improper. Possibly the same for the Red and White bunch too.

Guest Old Canny Street Kid
What about Ken Knightons one game in charge between Ashurst and Big Jack? Over the years a number of people stepped in for a week or a couple of weeks in between managers, but they never really qualified as managers. Gerry Young had a spell for instance, as did, I think, Jimmy McAnearney. There have been others. Managers have to be appointed as managers. It's not the same if they are just asked to "hold the fort while we sort it out"!
