The 1956 map shows the site was next to the Workingmen's Club (club in yellow box):

The land to the side looks to have been vacant all the way back to 1892 before the Club was built (between 1892 and 1905). The Smithy that gave the name to Smith Street is shown.

I'm now informed the site was occupied (1950's - 1960's?) by a company called Kenworthy Coaches but can't find any info on the net about them? Anybody remember them, or have any pics of their buses or site?

That's probably something to do with Facebook I think.
