What was the name of the Cinema sort of behind the Town Hall-same street that Violet May's was on I believe. Saw the King and I there starring Yul Bryner.

interesting, as 'The King and I' was the first film that I ever saw, must have been sometime in the late fifties, I remember parts from the film, but not where it was screened, I would only have been around four or five years old at the time.

Interestingly the 'Confessions of...' seriese of films (Confessions of a Window Cleaner being the most famous one) were made at Elstree studios, the same place as the original Star wars trilogy, the Indiana Jones films, The Shining and more recently the Kings Speech! I was there last week celebrating 100 years of film making in the town of Borehamwood and the studio is still going strong. Strictly come Dancing is coming from there at the moment.

Wow - that's quite some mix of movies !

" Cinema", "Movies" ? Am I giving my age away ?  It was always ... " Let's see what on at the pictures." ( or 'Flicks' ), never 'movies' and rarely 'the cinema '. So, have a nice day, and remember to keep bastardising ( sorry 'bastardiZing') your own language by speaking 'American English' folks ! (Sorry again, no such word as 'folks', 'folk' is already plural ! )
