Guest Dom Cutts
I am a member of the congregation at Upper Chapel. I was wondering if anyone could help as I'm researching (hopefully for a book) the history of the chapel. If anyone can help by giving me any info on Upper Chapel, Newhall Chapel, Hollis Hospital,Nether or Chapel (now where the United Reform Church is on Norfolk St) or just the history of general dissenting in Sheffield would be really helpful Thanks DTD
Unitedite Returns
There is, of course, this:- "A History of Upper Chapel, Sheffield, with a Appendix containing Timothy Jollie's Register of Baptisms, by J.E. Manning, Published By, The Independent Press, Sheffield, 1900." Which I believe, you can still buy from some antiquarian booksellers.
lysander
I remember reading, many years ago, a short account of the history of the Congregational Chapel ( where the URC Church now stands) by a local lay preacher...G F B Hawksworth.
