I do seem to have a William Guion at 58 Charles Street in 1845 and a John Roberts at the same place in 1849 - best let UKL have a say on those.

One for the head-scratchers :

Edward Battersby Beer retailer 58 Charles Street Pigot's 1841
John Roberts Beerhouse 58 Charles Street White's 1849
John Dixon Beerhouse,58 Charles Street White's 1852
Sarah Dixon Beerhouse, 58 Charles Street White's 1871

Mrs. Sarah Cook Phoenix hotel 56 & 58 Charles Street Kelly's 1893

Did Sarah Dixon become Sarah Cook ??? I think we should be told/find out/give up with a shrug ... etc

In 1871 Sarah DIXON is 58, a widow and a beerhouse keeper at 58 Charles St (piece 4684 folio 64 page 30)

In 1891 Sarah COOK is 55, Married [husband not at home] a licensed victualler at "4&2 Charles St & 1-3 Union St" (piece 3822 folio 27 page 8)

I don't understand the '4&2 Charles St'.

In 1901 The Phoenix is listed as 1 Union St, between 72 Charles St (counting down) and 9 Union St.

I believe the re-numbering was in 1871.

There was a pub called "The Empire" on Charles Street I think opposite The Minerva.
