Guest Haydn J Williams
Hello there, I'm not from Sheffield, so that's a good start........ I got family that came from the Hillsborough area in Sheffield.in particular Haden Street and Langsett Road. So what I know so far, my Mother was born in Preston in 1941, but her 4 brothers and sisters were born in Sheffield. My grandmothers name was Edna Hattersley born in Sheffield in 1907, and the time of the 1911 Census the family where living on Haden Street and continued to do so. My Grandmother Edna had 7 brothers and sisters .... Mona 1909-1925 Elsie 1910-1987 George 1913-1994 ??? Mabel 1915-1977 ??? Geoffrey 1917-1918 Iris 1920-1988 Joyce 1924- Circa 1940, Elsie, Iris and Edna ended up in Preston, Lancashire. To the best of my knowledge Mabel and George remained in Sheffield. I believe Mabel had a sweet shop around the corner from Haden Street and ran it with her husband Colin Woodward ? And George had "learning difficulties" My great grandfather was George Frederick Hattersley 1877-1948, he was a Cab Driver, his wife was Emily nee Merrill 1884-1958. My great grandfather had at least one brother his name Charles Stuart Hattersley 1887-1953 ?, his wife was Kate nee Priest. Very little is known about these two. My great great grandfather was George Greaves Hattersley 1854-1908, he married Mary Ann Capel nee Darlow1854-1931. My great great grandfather had at least 1 sister her name Elizabeth 1857-1908, her husband was Eli Darlow 1851-1913, Mary Ann Capel Darlows' brother. If the above names mean anything to anyone, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for reading.
