Bayleaf
This photo is among my wife's family photos. Unfortunately none of the older generations are with us any more, and no-one knows who the soldier is. But can anyone recognise the shoulder badge? Could it be RAMC? Any help appreciated! And could it be the horseman in this photo?

Lyn 1
try reversing the photo so both are facing the same way. Someone once told me to look at the shape of the ears to try and establish if it is the same person. Lyn

CATnCABBAGE
Hi, the shoulder title looks very much like that of the Hallamshire battalion, 4th York and Lancs it is a Capital letter T atop the number 4 over Y&L. Cant find an image of one on net at moment. Rob
Bayleaf
Thanks Rob, that looks a distinct possibility. It would rule out the likelihood of the two men being the same person.

Cant find an image of one on net at moment. Rob I recently showed the photo to Col. Norton of the Hallamshires, and although he can't make anything of the buttons or shoulder flash, he did say he's never seen any Hallamshires wearing a lanyard, and would tend to rule it out on that basis. So the search goes on!
CATnCABBAGE
Hi, before you continue your search can I direct you to look at a photo of confirmed 1/4th battalion man on my site. Here is a link, I think it will make your mind up for you ANSELL James William Let me know your thoughts Rob
Bayleaf
Brilliant Rob, many thanks. I sent Geoffrey Norton a link and he was very interested. He said he'd never seen a lanyard being worn, and as none of the others in the photos appeared to be wearing them, he wondered whether it might signify a member of a particular section, such as the signallers etc? CATnCABBAGE
Yeh, it is difficult to know for sure as if you see this one it is a signaller with no lanyard!!! REYNOLDS Sam + Joseph He is also a confirmed 1/4 man, it is a pity we can't quite see his shoulder title. Rob
