Newspapers Or Reports

I am currently trying to trace a interesting if potentially sinister family story. If anyone can help me or point me in the right direction it would be useful.

Any newspapers or reports which mention the drowning of Harry Staniforth on April 1946 would be greatly appreciated. He was married to Jessie Smith. Both of which were born and lived in Sheffield.

Was your Jessie Smith born in Birdwell, Barnsley? Can't offer you any help as such yet, but I have a Jessie Smith who married a Harry Staniforth in 1912.

I don't know where she was born at the moment. But yes they married in 1912.

I'd thought I'd amend this. Yes, Jessie Smith that I have was born in Birdwell.

Is there a link between my research and yours?

Just thought I'd add to this. I have double checked and my Jessie Smith was born in Birdwell and married to Harry Staniforth.

If you have any further information then I would be grateful.

My search into Harry Staniforth has been limited to say the least. Maybe you have been able to find something I haven't !!

Thanks !!!

I've not been able to find anything relating to Harry's death unfortunately.

I've found varying things out about him and Jessie but I think you may have already discovered the info on stuff like ancestry.

I was told, though, by a long dead relative, that. Jessie moved away after Harry's death, but I have no idea if this is at all true, but I have no clue as to where she is buried either sadly.

I'm related to Jessie through her nephew, Ostley, who is my great grandad and lived at 39 James Street himself. My dad remembers visiting well into the 1960s.
