RichardB
Oh, Good Grief ! Here are a bunch of pubs, all on Water Lane, its going to take a bit of work to trace through the entries in the A-Z - plus checking against the latest list of beerhouses. I personally don't have a Hobson on Water Lane, but thats not to say one of the pubs on the list hasn't been updated by Ukelele Lady or that it was a beerhouse. Good Luck. All Nations, 18 Water Lane 1797 -> Barrel 36 Water Lane (or indeed number 5) 1797 -> Castle Inn, Snighill/Water Lane 1820-> Coach and Horses 37 Water Lane, 1820-> Horse and Garter, 24 Water Lane, 1820-> Horse and Groom, Water Lane 1820-> Old House at Home, 33 Water Lane 1797 -> Ship, 31 Water Lane 1796-> Soldiers Return, 42 Water Lane 1797 -> Talbot Arms, 39 Water Lane 1833-> As ever, don't get too bogged down by the street numbering; it has almost no value whatsoever. Scanning through my data it does seem thatthere were quite a few boozers numbered in the "30's" back then; possible some duplication or change of premises names going on. miked
Thanks for trying, dont worry its not that important. I found a pic on link below. Its hard to imagine all those pubs. The last article makes me chuckle. Colourful times. Do we have pictures of any of the pubs? http://www.bbc.co.uk/southyorkshire/sense_of_place/picture_sheffield/nov_03/044_v00955.shtml
