Charlie Pugh And Albert Quixsall

Does anyone remember Charlie Pugh? He was in goal when I first started to support Wednesday in the 50's. This was about the same time as Albert Quixall was transferred to Manchester United for a then record fee of £45,000, if my memory serves me correctly. Anyway I am sure someone will put the record straight.

Had a look in the new Complete Record book - the only Pugh listed is Graham from the 1970s.

Dave Mcintosh was the first choice for most of the 1950s with Ron Springett towards the end. A few others filled in but can't see that name?

Thanks Madannie this is probably the man. I was about 12 years old at the time and it is a long time ago. I wonder if any one has any programmes or printed material from the time. It would be interesting to see.

Charlie Pllu is my father who was the goal keeper for Sheffield Wednesday if you have any questions. He is fine and well.

I remember Charlie Pllu very well playing for Wednesday .He was 2nd choice keeper after Scotsman Dave Mcintosh .I stand to be corrected but I reckon Wednesday signed him from Shrewsbury Town .

Charlie at that time in the 1950's was the smallest keeper in the football league , Standing only 5' 7" or 8", he was also very slim.I used to watch the 1'st team one week then the reserves the following week playing in the Central league in those days .
